Lufthansa Retro Livery Boeing 747-800 D-ABYT “Yankee Tango” Landing & Takeoff O’Hare AirportWe see her relatively often at Chicago O’Hare… Lufthansa’s Boeing 747-830 D-ABYT in the LH Retro Livery, dubbed by planespotters, avgeeks and airline employees as “Yankee Tango”. She wears the same classic blue stripe look that Lufthansa’s first ever Boeing 747 sported when it was delivered back in 1970.

An aircraft that I have chosen as my current avatar on YouTube, Instagram and Twitter… yes, I do like this one a great deal second only to the British Airways Landor livery, special to me since that is the one I often saw here growing up as a young avgeek in Chi-Town, …but we don’t see that one here, something about “wrong seating configuration for the route” I’ve heard, so this is my favorite retro special we see at the ol’ ORD.

Also happy to say I’ve had many good flights on Lufthansa, taking trips to/from Munich and Frankfurt on the Airbus A340-300, A340-600, A350-900, A380-800 and Boeing 747-8i variant.

Usually, when this comes to Chicago O’Hare, this aircraft operates the daily service to Frankfurt Airport EDDF/FRA, arriving as DH#430 around noon and going back as DLH#431 about 1600 (4pm) such as you see here.
