Birdstrike – BOEING 777 vs. BIRDS – B777 hits two birds during LANDING
Birdstrike – BOEING 777 vs. BIRDS – B777 hits two birds during LANDING Yesterday I showed up at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport to film a few crosswind landings. Crosswinds look like a pretty dangerous aspect in the aviation world but actually it` s not. Pilots are able to land the planes during storm, crosswinds, heavy rain or other extreme weather conditions. Birds on the other hands are an extremly dangerous and surprising factor which could lead to fatal accidents. Birds can cause major complications like the loss of the power of an engine or broken cockpit windows. We all know the story of the Airbus which had to make an emergency landing in the Hudson river.
The Boeing 777-200 Freighter of Lan Cargo arrived after a long haul flight from Miami and shortly before the touchdown a few birds crossed the path of the Boeing 777. One of them hit the belly of the Boeing and fell down, the other one tried to avoid the collision and got sucked in the engine.
