Sandblasted on Maho Beach! KLM 747 CLOSE-UP Takeoff from SXMThis was one intense takeoff! I stood right behind the KLM 747 “Nairobi” as it spooled up to full thrust to get an extremely close-up view (front row seat, I could say!). Of course, I got heavily jet-blasted in the process! Unfortunately it was impossible to keep the camera on the aircraft for a few moments as I was simultaneously trying to:
– Film the plane (fail)
– Prevent my hat from flying away (which it did in the end)
– Prevent my tripod from flying away (which was quite a challenge)
– Prevent myself from flying away (I got sandblasted instead)
