Next-generation CAE GESI command and staff training system now in-service at German Army Combat Simulation Center
CAE announced that Germany’s Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) has accepted as ready-for-training the latest generation CAE GESI command and staff training system. The next-generation CAE GESI constructive simulation system is now being used at the German Army Combat Simulation Center located in Wildflecken.
The CAE GESI constructive simulation software is a sophisticated synthetic environment that allows commanders to train command and control procedures under realistic conditions. The CAE GESI software simulates the complete mission area, but commanders have the responsibility to take action and make decisions based on how the simulated exercises evolve.
“The latest version of CAE GESI delivers a range of enhancements and improvements that enable the German Army to train commanders and their staffs in the whole range of actual missions they might be facing,” said Ian Bell, CAE’s Vice President and Business Leader, Military – Europe. “We will be making continuous improvements in the GESI software that will allow the German Army and other GESI customers to conduct more exercises at the battalion and brigade levels in a simulated environment.”
The acceptance as ready-for-training for the latest generation CAE GESI software is a major milestone of an ongoing product improvement program that will continue with the release of an enhanced version in mid-2014.
CAE has been making improvements to the CAE GESI constructive simulation software aimed at enabling the brigade level and below to train for a range of missions. For the first time, the CAE GESI software covers the entire intensity and spectrum of land-based operations for both national and international exercises. The CAE GESI software is now equipped with an easy-to-use exercise editor, comprehensive after-action-review capability, and improved interoperability with other command and control (C2) systems. The CAE GESI system also features emergency management training capabilities to ensure that military, civil crisis and emergency staffs are prepared and ready for a range of crisis situations.
