EADS Group plans major presence at 50th Paris Air Show
From commercial and military aircraft to telecommunications satellites, the EADS Group will present a wide array of innovative products and technologies at the 50th Paris Air Show which starts June 17 at Le Bourget.
Under the theme ‘Delivering Innovation’, EADS and its Divisions – Airbus, Astrium, Cassidian and Eurocopter – will showcase their market leading products and new innovations that will help shape the future of the aerospace industry. Throughout the show, the EADS Human Resources team will conduct a number of events for those interested in starting or furthering their careers in aerospace and defence.
The Group’s visible presence will be focused around the EADS Pavilion (Chalet Row A) which will integrate the indoor exhibits, static display plus the media and hospitality centres all in one place. Additional products and technologies will be on display at the EADS stand in Hall 2A (Rotonde).
EADS Innovation Works, the Group’s corporate research and technology network, will present a number of initiatives in the field of electrical and hybrid propulsion during the show. Included is a fully electric general aviation training aircraft. These “E-aircraft” projects clearly demonstrate EADS’ commitment to develop technologies that further reduce aircraft carbon dioxide emissions.
As part of its goal to recruit 5,000 people this year, EADS experts will provide 21 workshops for experienced professionals, students and graduates during which they can receive details about the diverse careers options within the company. There will also be a dedicated ‘Diversity Day’ on Thursday, June 20 and ‘International Student Day’ on Friday, June 21. In another HR initiative, visitors to the EADS static display are invited to leave their creative mark on a giant art exhibit entitled “Express Yourself – Design Your Future”. EADS is also a partner for the “L’avion des métiers” event organized by the French industry association Gifas to promote employment within aerospace.
In the flying display, an A400M military transporter and British Airways’ soon to be delivered first A380 will wow the crowds during the first few days of the show with Airbus’ own test A380 aircraft taking over later in the week. Both aircraft types will also be on the static display as will a C295 from Airbus Military and an ACJ319 business jet. A Tiger military helicopter from Eurocopter is also expected to take part in the flying display as will an NH90.
At the EADS Pavilion and EADS Stand in Hall 2A, the Group will showcase a wide range of products and services. These include a full size A350 XWB cockpit and cabin section from Airbus and a scale model of the A330 Multi Role Tanker Transport from Airbus Military. Among the Astrium products on display will be models of the GO-3S earth observation satellite system and GSM VIP, a service that combines satellite telecommunications with mobile telephony to deploy a GSM network independent of local networks. Cassidian will present Unmanned Aerial Systems like Harfang, as well as the Eurofighter jet fighter plane including a flight simulator. On the static display from Eurocopter will be an EC725 Caracal, the new EC645T2 (scale 1), an EC135, along with the AS565 MBe Panther and X3 high speed helicopter.
The Group will hold a number of press events during the week, with details available at the EADS Pavilion and the show’s main press centre. On Tuesday, June 18 at 13h30, EADS Chief Technical Officer Jean Botti will conduct a media tour to explain the Group’s exhibits and technologies on display.
