High growth in traffic at Avinor airports

Air traffic to and from Avinor’s airports rose by almost 15% in April compared to the same month last year. Easter falling in March affected the figures.

Domestic traffic – which is highly sensitive to public and seasonal holidays (when there is less travel activity), rose by almost 19% in April, whilst international traffic rose by over 8% compared with April last year.  But Easter fell in April in 2012. A total of almost 4,035,227 passengers travelled through Avinor’s airports in April.

Avinor’s biggest airport, Oslo Airport Gardermoen, saw growth of 12% in passenger traffic in April compared with the same month last year.

Traffic at Stavanger Airport Sola grew by 24%, Trondheim Airport Værnes 16.4% and Bergen Airport Flesland 16.2%.

Average growth for the national airports was 15.2% compared with April last year. Svalbard Airport recorded the biggest growth, at 39.9%.

At the regional airports, growth averaged 16.7%, and local airports saw growth of 16%.

Aircraft movements increased by 14.5% compared with the same month last year.
