Vienna Airport: Minus 4.0% in passengers during February 2013

The number of passengers handled by Vienna Airport fell by 4.0% year-on-year to 1,331,625 in February 2013. After an adjustment for the extra day in the previous year (29 February 2012), passenger traffic in February 2013 equalled the level recorded in February 2012.

The development of passenger traffic in February 2013 was negatively influenced by the severe winter weather, which reduced air traffic at airports throughout Europe on several days.

Declines were recorded in the number of flight movements with minus 9.6%, maximum take-off weight with minus 9.0% and cargo with minus 13.9%. The number of transfer passengers using Vienna Airport in February 2013 was 10.3% lower than in February 2012. The number of local passengers declined 0.9% during this same period.

Passenger traffic to Eastern Europe declined 4.1% in comparison with February of the previous year. The number of passengers travelling to Western Europe was 2.6% lower, while the Middle East recorded a slight increase of 0.4% in February 2013.
