More than 200 guests were on hand to celebrate the official opening of Göteborg Landvetter’s new departure hall for international passengers. The airport director, Charlotte Ljunggren, and Swedavia’s president and CEO, Torborg Chetkovich, both gave speeches to representatives of the region’s business community and local government as well as all the companies at the airport.
“The new Göteborg Landvetter offers the highest international standards in its atmosphere, setting, customer service and commercial offering, and we hope that all travellers in western Sweden, indeed all Swedes, will feel proud to have Göteborg Landvetter as their airport,” says Charlotte Ljunggren.
The refurbishment of Göteborg Landvetter’s new international departure hall has been underway for about a year, and new businesses have gradually opened during that time. Now the extensive construction work is completed, and anyone who has not flown internationally in a while will enjoy a brand-new experience.
The rebuilding of the new international departure hall – along with the new security checkpoint, which was inaugurated a year ago – is the biggest change at the airport since it opened in 1977.
The departure hall has added 1,000 square metres of space, with a bright new shopping area that has an open layout for new and larger shops, while at the same time giving passengers an overview of the commercial services available as well as where their plane departs from.
International passengers can enjoy five restaurants/bars/cafés and eleven shops in the new departure hall.
“The emphasis in the refurbishment has been that it should be easy for passengers to find different products, restaurants and bars and also easy for them to get to their gate. Our aim is to deliver world-class service,” said Charlotte Ljunggren in her inaugural speech.
