Air Freight Grows at Chopin Airport

 Nearly 32,900 tonnes of cargo went through Chopin Airport during the first three quarters of 2012, a 1.6% increase year-on-year.

The airport handled over 4,000 tonnes of cargo in September 2012, 7.7% more than in the same month last year, with imports exceeding exports – 2,300 tonnes and 1,700 tonnes respectively. The volume of mail processed through the airport during the first three quarters of 2012 increased by a total of 2.9% (4.9% for international traffic).

The most popular cargo destinations included: Leipzig (5,300 t), Cologne (4,700 t), Chicago (2,500 t), New York (2,100 t) and Chengdu (2,100 t). The biggest cargo carriers were LOT Polish Airlines (10,700 t), UPS Airlines (7,900 t), European Air Transport (5,200 t), Sprint Air (1,400 t) and Air Contractors (1,400 t).
