The first two Tu-334-100s may be sold in late 2013

The first two Tu-334-100 aircraft may be sold in late 2013, a source close to the military-industrial sector said on Sunday, Vzglyad.ru reports.

«The corresponding contract is already being elaborated by “People’s jet Tu-334-100” fund, Tupolev Company and Kazan Aviation Production Association in cooperation with one of the Russian airlines. It is planned to carry out additional certification tests and prepare the first two jets for sale by the end of 2013», – the source said.

He also explained that this refers to selling the first two Tu-334s (№ 03 and № 05). «The № 05 aircraft was taking part in the certification testing of Tu-334 and it is 90%-ready for delivery. The second jet (№ 03) is 55%-ready. Its production is currently underway in Kazan», – the source explained.

He reminded that Tu-334-100 aircraft received the type certificate back in 2003. «That is why there will be not a lot of certification tests. There are few major changes so we have to carry out some additional tests», – the source said. He also said that Tu-334’s engines and avionics are mostly similar to those installed on An-148/158. «At present we have 45 signed commitments for acquisition of Tu-334-100 liners», – the source explained. It was reported earlier that Rusavia  may acquire the first two Tu-334s».
