FS2004 – Akutan KQA

FS2004 – Akutan KQA, Alaska (AK), USA. Akutan is in the Aleutians in an inlet on the island of the same name, around 35 miles ENE of Dutch Harbor. The population is just over a thousand, though this can increase as seasonal workers are employed at the the Trident crab and fish processing plant just to the west of the town. There is a daily flight by amphibious Grumman Goose from Dutch Harbor and you will need to have already Installed Dutch Harbor to see this. The Goose will land on the water at Akutan, and then taxi and park at the bottom of the ramp up onto the apron, which is actually usable if you want to taxi up it. The sea AI includes fishing boats from the Trident dock and a Coast Guard cutter from the town dock, but read the text regarding the Coast Guard. In real life the Goose is a PenAir plane; in FS2004 this proved tricky. By Roger Wensley with help from Sidney Schwartz.
