JAL Decorates Aircraft with Special Livery for 2012 Summer Olympics

Japan Airlines (JAL) will deploy a specially decorated aircraft on select domestic routes from May 27, 2012 to show support for the national team of sportspersons representing Japan at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games to be held in London this year from July 27 through August 12, 2012.

A 777-200 aircraft from JAL’s fleet (registration number: JA772J) will feature the official slogan of the Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) – “Ganbare! Nippon!” (Go for it! Japan!) written in Japanese characters down the fuselage after the wing. Just beneath the stream of words are logos of JOC, the organization’s official sports club partner Konami Sports and Life Co., Ltd, and official airline JAL. Alongside the logos is the face of prominent two-time Olympic silver medalist for gymnastics and leader of the KONAMI Gymnastics Team Yohei Uchimura.

The special livery aircraft will be used on routes from Tokyo (Haneda) to Sapporo (Chitose), Osaka (Itami), Fukuoka and Okinawa (Naha) between May 27 and early September 2012.

JAL has supported the Olympic Games and Japanese national teams in the past through a variety of ways such as transporting the Olympic Torch, chartering flights carrying participants to the Games, promoting the event in Japan as the official airline of JOC, and decorating its aircraft with special livery. This summer, JAL will once again join the rest of Japan in cheering on her athletes. Go for it, Japan!
