Gulf Air Boosts Dammam Operations with Seven Additional flights to Meet Summer Demand

Bahrain’s national carrier Gulf Air today announced it has added seven weekly flights to its schedule to and from Dammam, a capacity increase of 30%, to meet the increasing market demand predicted during the busy summer months. The airline will now operate 30 flights per week, no less than four flights per day, beginning 21st of May 2012 offering passengers access to an additional 1,904 seats.

The extra flights offer business travellers and visitors to the Eastern Province and Bahrain more flexible and convenient flight options. The new schedule seamlessly connects passengers to the popular markets of Manila, Dhaka, Dubai, Mumbai, Delhi, Kathmandu, Kochi, Addis Ababa, London and Colombo in under two hours.

Gulf Air Chief Executive Officer Mr. Samer Majali said, “Dammam is considered Gulf Air’s second hub and the introduction of additional flights cater to the summer demand between Dammam and Bahrain, and emphasizes the importance we attach to this key market. It also highlights our business strategy to concentrate on high-demand routes to ensure our core customer base is served effectively and efficiently.”

He continued, “We have been flying to Saudi since 1950, and operating to Dammam since the new airport opened in 1999. Since then we have continuously expanded and strengthened our presence connecting customers from the far corners of the Kingdom to the world through our extensive network, one of the largest in the region.”

“The departure and arrival schedule of the additional flights have been timed in such a way that they benefit both international and regional travellers whether on business or pilgrimage.”

“I would like to thank Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation and their colleagues for their cooperation in securing the additional traffic rights,” Mr. Majali concluded.

With the introduction of these additional flights, customers travelling from Dammam now have even more convenient choices to connect to Europe, the Middle East, Africa and North America with (codeshare partner American Airlines), through Gulf Air’s efficient hub.
