First Lufthansa scheduled flight with new Business Class
In Munich, Lufthansa is celebrating a very special premiere: the new Business Class unveiled to the public this March at ITB Berlin, The World’s Leading Travel Trade Show, begins regular services today, operating out of the airport in the Bavarian state capital. Yesterday the long-haul fleet operating from Munich took delivery of a new Airbus A330-300 which is already equipped with the latest Lufthansa cabin as a standard feature. The aircraft with the registration D-AIKP is the first Lufthansa Airbus featuring the new Business Class on board. Each of the 48 seats is equipped with an integrated air-cushion system with which the seats can fold flat to create a bed 1.98 metres long for the utmost in comfort. Business Class travellers are provided with an individual entertainment programme with the new, enlarged 15-inch monitors. Guests in all classes who wish to go online in flight may do so with FlyNet, the broad band internet service.
Awaiting Lufthansa passengers at the very front of the cabin is the new, exclusive First Class which already flies on the upper deck of the A330’s ‘big sister’, the Airbus A380. Here, eight guests can enjoy the premium offerings with luxurious easy chairs that transform into the largest, most comfortable bed of its class. Travellers aboard Lufthansa’s Economy Class also enjoy considerable comfort and high standard service. 161 guests will arrive at their destination relaxed, thanks to the comfortable and modern Lufthansa ‘Eco seats’ equipped with integrated monitors.
Lufthansa’s newest A330 takes off from ‘MUC’ on its first scheduled flight today at 3:55 p.m., with a total of up to 217 passengers on board. The destination airport will be Washington Dulles, the international airport of the US capital city. The aircraft is propelled by two fuel-efficient and particularly quiet Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines. The aircraft has a range of up to 10,000 kilometres at a maximum cruising altitude of 12,500 metres and a maximum speed of 875 km/h.
