After Cargolux introduced the industry’s first Boeing 747-400 freighter FFS in February 2000, also developed by CAE, history is repeating itself with the new Boeing 747-8 freighter FFS, which is the second FFS to be operated by Cargolux. Cargolux also employs a CAE-designed suite of classroom training equipment for these aircraft types which uses the same high fidelity simulation software as the FFS.
‘The integration of the new simulator into the Cargolux crew training provides us with a more efficient simulator operation. The application of new technologies results in lower energy consumption and a higher fidelity training environment compared to our 747-400F full-flight simulator,’ said Frank Reimen, President and CEO.

The integration of the new Boeing 747-8F FFS and associated classroom training equipment has created an enhanced flight crew training environment at Cargolux. The new state-of-the-art electric motion system provides more accurate and authentic motion cues than the hydraulic system used on the company’s 747-400F FFS. The enhanced visual system generates a highly detailed synthetic visual environment to train pilots under the most difficult flight conditions.
