Within the agreement, which will initially cover a two-year period, Iberia Cargo will become the general agent for cargo and mail space in Vueling’s fleet.
Freight can be now be shipped from/to any of the 21 airports in Spain reached by Vueling plus Amsterdam, Athens, Brussels, Copenhagen, Lisbon, London, Milan, Rome, Paris, Tel Aviv, Venice, as well as Zurich. The list will gradually be expanded to cover other Vueling destinations.
IAG Cargo was created in April, following the merger of Iberia Cargo and British Airways World Cargo. It posted an income of 1,190 million euros in 2011. Its combined staff numbers more than 2,700 people and the company operates in some 200 airports around the world.
Vueling was launched in July, 2004, with two Airbus A320s. It now boasts a fleet of 59 aircraft of the A320 family, and operates flights to 74 cities in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. It earned a net profit of 10.4 million euros in 2011.
