AVIANCA AND TACA AIRLINES ANNOUNCE CODESHARE AGREEMENT WITH SKY AIRLINE
In the press conference the AviancaTaca CEO, Fabio Villegas Ramírez, the AviancaTaca VP of Operations, Estuardo Ortiz, and the Sky Airline CEO, Jürgen Paulmann, signed the alliance with the Central American company. They also announced that the respective Sky agreement with Avianca will be signed in Q1, 2012.
“This codeshare agreement between Taca Airlines and Sky Airline is an important step in meeting our stated service goals. Thanks to this new agreement the airlines expand their route networks, offering passengers more choice in the Southern Cone countries,” Fabio Villegas Ramirez told the press conference.
“Under this agreement Avianca, Taca and Sky can deepen their commercial ties, and bring the Chilean, Peruvian and Colombian markets closer together, encouraging tourism and trade, as well as cultural and business exchanges between the two countries, enhancing connectivity in the region,” stated Jürgen Paulmann.
TACA – SKY Codeshare: More connection options between Chile and Peru. Through this agreement, which came into effect on October 24, 2011, Taca Airlines passengers can fly to destinations in Chile served by Sky Airline. Sky travelers can also fly to destinations served by Taca Peru.
The codeshare agreement allows a significant increase in the number of domestic destinations in Chile for Taca passengers, and within Peru for Sky Airline passengers. It also increases the number of frequencies between Peru and Chile, strengthening the presence of the airlines in two important markets in the region.
Taca Airlines places its code on domestic flights operated by Sky Airline to Iquique, Calama, Antofagasta, Copiapó, Concepción, Temuco, Puerto Montt, Puerto Natales and Punta Arenas and also on the Santiago-Lima and Santiago-Antofagasta-Lima international route operated by Sky Airline. Taca Airline passengers now have the option of flying to Santiago and taking an onward flight via Sky Airline to their final destination in Chile.
Sky Airline travelers can access four domestic Taca Airlines destinations in Peru via Lima: Trujillo, Juliaca, Cusco and Tarapoto, as well as the international Lima-Santiago route operated by Taca Airlines. Passengers can fly to multiple destinations when purchasing a single ticket, whether they start their journey with SKY Airline or TACA Airlines. They can enjoy easy connections and the peace of mind that their baggage is taken care of to their final destination, even when flying segments operated by different airlines.
AVIANCA – SKY future alliance. The codeshare agreement that Sky Airlines and Avianca will shortly sign will make the Avianca route between Santiago and Bogota ??available to passengers originating from Chile, as well as the Colombian carrier’s network. It includes 21 destinations in Colombia and more than 23 destinations in America and Europe. Similarly, travelers flying between Bogota and Chile via Avianca will be able to travel to various SKY Airline destinations in Chile that depart from Santiago. This agreement will come into force once government approvals are given in Chile and Colombia.
