Welcome to Perfect Flight

Big changes in the Iberia Plus Frequent Flyer program

Today Iberia implements major modifications to the Iberia Plus frequent flyers program, enabling its nearly 5 million members to enjoy new advantages.

The old Iberia Plus points are multiplied by 15 to become Avios points, and maintain their bull redemption value.

The new Avios points are awarded on the basis of real distances flown, instead of geographical zones, as previously, which in most cases means more points are awarded. Members will earn one Avios point for each air mile flown. Business class customers will earn 1.5 points per mile, and customers paying promotional fares will earn 0.6 of a point per mile, double the 0.3 points per mile they earned previously.

In addition, on flights of less than 500 air miles, 500 Avios points will be awarded regardless of the fare paid.

On routes covered by the Joint Business Agreement with American Airlines and British Airways (flights between Europe and the USA, Canada, Mexico, as well as Puerto Rico), tourist class passengers will earn one Avios point for every air mile flown.

Easier to Earn “Elite Points”

Fewer points are new required to raise and maintain “Elite” Iberia Plus card levels, and more such points are issued for each flight. Elite points are awarded for flights with Iberia, Vueling and Iberia Regional Air Nostrum, and for flights with any members of the oneworld airline alliance.

Avios points expire only if 36 months elapse with any movement (earning or spending points) in the Iberia Plus member’s account. Points can be earned or spent by doing business with any of the 90 partners of the program.

The changes to the Iberia Plus program are part of the process of homogenizing it with British Airways’ Executive Club loyalty program. All the changes are reflected on www.iberia.com, and further information about them can be found on https://www.novedadesiberiaplus.com
