Alitalia CityLiner relies on navigation data from Lufthansa Systems

Alitalia CityLiner will use the comprehensive navigation data from Lufthansa Systems for their Flight Management System (FMS). Both companies recently signed a five-year contract for the use of Lido/FMS. Alitalia CityLiner already optimizes its flight planning with Lido/Flight from Lufthansa Systems.

The FMS database contains all important route information including altitude and airport data for optimizing routes and supporting autopilots on board modern aircraft. The navigation data, which are based on global aeronautical information, are updated every 28 days according the AIRAC cycle and can be customized to specific routes and for the use in any type of aircraft. Lufthansa Systems can thus meet the requirements and needs of airlines at all times.

Alitalia CityLiner is a fully-owned subsidiary of the Alitalia CAI group. The group’s airlines Alitalia, AirOne and CAI Second have been relying not only on Lido/FMS for several years but also on other Lido solutions from Lufthansa Systems, e.g. navigation charts, flight planning and aircraft performance solutions. Alitalia CityLiner operates on domestic as well as European routes. After a new Embraer 190 entered service in September 2011, the regional carrier plans to incorporate a total of 5 E-190 and 15 E-175 in their fleet by August 2012.
