‘Baltic Aviation Academy Aviation Library’ is the first project based on a commitment contract to be initiated in Lithuania. Its main objective is to stimulate intellectual cooperation with libraries by providing a monthly supply of specialized aviation literature. Baltic Aviation Academy has chosen the Lithuanian Technical Library as its number-one partner in Lithuania which is now committed to establishing a separate specialized aviation reading-room. Under the academy’s supervision all other partner libraries have fitted their facilities with specialized aviation related literature sections and will receive 2-4 aviation themed books per calendar month.
‘An impressive total of 40% of all Baltic Aviation Academy received queries by telephone or e-mail are placed by aviation enthusiasts. Due to extremely high entry requirements for potential pilots not all of those aviation minded people are qualified to enter our academy. The non-profit social initiative is our way of encouraging such people to further pursue their interest and nurture their passion for conquering the skies.’, said the CEO of Baltic Aviation Academy Egle Vaitkeviciute.
The BAA Aviation Library makes the valuable aviation literature fund available not only to the Baltic Aviation Academy community but also to the international aviation academic circle including lecturers and students as well as aviation enthusiasts in general. The cooperation among educational institutions and libraries stimulates communication, contributes to accumulating data, distinguishes the aviation related publications in general information context and corresponds to user needs.
