Gidromash will be supplying landing gear for MS-21
The document covering all the life-cycle of the aircraft gives the Nizhny Novgorod-based enterprise the status of official supplier of components for the new-built jet, which is considered to be the most advanced in the Russian civil aviation.
The reference documents of Boeing and Airbus have been used as the basis of the contract: the contract describes all the clauses of interaction between the parties.
The exact dates and scopes of production have not been defined yet.
As explained by Gidromash, in the next five years the enterprise plans to develop, manufacture and test landing gear for MS-21 and then Irkut will certify it. The serial production of the landing gear will be started in 2016 or later, when the final assembly of the jet will begin. The value of the contract has not been unveiled. The average cost of landing gear kit depending on the size of the aircraft is assessed at 4–5 million dollars, thus, the amount of the contract for about 150 jets (approximate number of firm orders secured by Irkut) is not less than 600 million dollars.
The Irkut MS-21 is a low-wing, twin-engine aircraft for short and medium range, which will be produced by the Russian United Aircraft Corporation. This aircraft in its various configurations (excluding the 132-seats one, in order to avoid competition with the Superjet 100 of Sukhoi) can be compared with the A-320 Airbus, the Boeing B-737, the Chinese Comac C-919 and the Tupolev TU-204. Several companies have already ordered it, including Aeroflot
