FS2004 – Sikorsky JRS-1 U.S. Navy VJ-1 Squadron 1-J-9. Sikorsky twin-engine amphibian built in 1937. Military version of S-43.
Used by U.S. Navy and Marines for utility transport, photography, target towing, patrol duty. JRS-1s were based at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii in December 1941. Range 1200 miles at cruising speed of 170 mph, roughly the distance from Hawaii to Midway Island. Equipped with extended range fuel tanks and depth bombs.
